A time for reflection

The frenetic preparations and road running that are all part of the Christmas season are over now for another year. The fridge is jammed full of left overs and bellies are, generally speaking, much too full.

As we look ahead to the start of another year, many people pause during this brief hiatus between holidays to reflect on the year gone by and make plans for the one yet to start. Sometimes we like to look at the overall picture…

And other times it’s the details we pay attention to…

The downside of being too particular is that we see the imperfections too clearly – the dust on the crystal ornament, a flaw in a jewel – and allow the fact that we’ve noticed those things to detract from the joy we experience. Life is much too short and too precious to waste worrying about the dust on the doodads.

Here’s wishing everyone time to enjoy a moment in the sun

and the good sense to avoid focusing on the scents behind…
